How to use the Alpha property in Sketchware

A simple menu showing the Alpha property at work

The alpha property is used to make or add translucency to a widget or layout. This feature is particularly useful in making your app even more beautiful since it allows you to add layers to your interface.

Every widget and layout comes with a default Alpha value of 1.0 and this is not translucent. You can reduce the translucency to a suitable value. The above layout was created by adding a linear and setting an image as background resource. I then placed 2 linears and changed the background colors to purple and black respectively. After that,  I set the Alpha value of those 2 linears to 0.7 to make the image in the background of the main linear visible.

The example below is a simple screen which uses the Alpha property to together with the background image to create a login page. The first linear has a picture set as its background resource and then the second linear has its background colour set to black and Alpha value reduced to 0.7

You can combine the Alpha feature with other properties to create beautiful layouts. You can check out more tips on how to create a beautiful user interface in Sketchware.

The best and easiest way to learn is by trying it out and experimenting. So go ahead and create something.

I hope this gave you an understanding of what the Alpha property does and what it does. All the best in building that billion dollar app. How did you even come up with that idea? 🤨

Hip hop and RnB songs to apologize to your partner

Love is a beautiful thing, but it often goes wrong. This often leads to pain, suffering and sorrow.  Being imperfect beings, hearts tend to get broken all the time regardless how hard we may try to avoid it.  The heartbreak is often inadvertent but at times we find ourselves in the wrong. An oversight, a word unsaid or even a lapse in our judgement can cause our loved ones harm. This doesn't always have to be the end though. Oftentimes, relationships can be mended by simply uttering three simple words: "I AM SORRY". This article is a collection of some of my favourite 'I'm sorry' songs. I hope you'll enjoy these apology songs, but more importantly, I hope you will get a few quotables and some wisdom nuggets from them.  The best apology however, is to change behaviour (got that from a Jay Z interview) so as you apologize, please remember that it was your actions that hurt them.
